Cell IDs of Rogers GSM Sites

The following list shows the Cell IDs of the Rogers GSM sites in Southern Ontario that I am presently aware of. It is by no means complete, so if you can provide me with the ID of a site not on the list, it would be greatly appreciated. Cell IDs are unique throughout the province, so you can use them to positively identify the site you are receiving.

Finding Cell IDs is largely limited to owners phones with Field Test Mode. This feature is rarely ever available to an end user in the GSM world, but you can sometimes find ways to have this feature activated. It is fairly easy on Nokia phones prior to the series 40s. So far, no one has figured out how to access it for series 40 or series 50 Nokias. For series 60 (such as the 3600 and 3650) there is an applet available that you can run on the phone that displays cell IDs.

The last digit of the Cell ID is actually the sector number, and it will be 7, 8, or 9 on any 1900 MHz channel, and 1, 2, or 3 on any 850 MHz channel. The remaining digits are the CID shown in the list below. That means that if you see 22148 on your phone, the CID is 2214, and you are picking up sector 8 (which is a 1900 MHz channel). 22142 would be the same sector, but on an 850 MHz channel. Rogers are very methodical about their sector designations. Sectors 2 and 8 are the ones that face south, while sectors 1 and 7 face northeast, and sectors 3 and 9 face northwest.

However, you will also encounter sites with a last digit of 0. These are single-sectored mini-sites. These have limited range, and are meant to cover less than 1/2 kilometer in any direction. Those along highways are often directional, and are beamed in either direction along that highway. I have marked each one of them in red in the following list.
